NYX HAUL & FIRST IMPRESSIONS

NYX Cosmetics has been in Finland for quite some time now, but their stands are always way too crowded for my taste. Anyhow, I got my chance one late night of shopping and picked up a few things without having to elbow someone. I consider NYX being affordable with their prices ranging from 3.50€ to 30€ (most products here in Finland, then they’ve more expensive sets, etc. and not everything is sold here anyway).

I totally forgot to include my Total Control Drop Foundation in the photos, what an idiot I am. I bought it in “Pale” thinking that it’s something you can mix in foundations to adjust the colour and coverage. But it’s actually just foundation. Yes, what an idiot indeed. However, it does work in that purpose anyway so it’s all good. On it’s own it’s too light for me.

I think it’s the law of nature to have one good eyebrow and one bad one that is always misbehaving. At least that’s my case. I’m always on a hunt for a good eyebrow gel so I picked up the Control Freak Eyebrow Gel. This is a plain clear gel with no fibres in it or anything. It’s meant to seal the brows in place for all day long. This works well on my good brow, but my other brow is just too much for this one. I’ll put too much on trying to secure my bad brow in place and then I end up with white flakes falling from my brow. Not cute.

I’m a fan of thin brow pencils and I actually have used the Cosmetics Micro Brow Pencil before. This time I got it in the shade “Ash Brown”. I do like this colour, it’s a good match for my brows. I can’t remember if I had the issue I’ve with the ABH pencils with this one… Basically, I always break them. Sadly, the packaging does not last as long as the product. I hope this doesn’t do that.

Wonder Pencil in “Medium” is very handy for multiple reasons. It says it on the pencil; it’s a concealer, eye brightener and reverse lip liner in one. The lightest shade for me is better for brightening and highlighting and this one works better as a concealer so I use both. I’ve used many of these and will continue to purchase them.

High Definition Blush in “Taupe” does not work as a blush for my skin tone, but I bought this for contouring. It works if I use a light hand, it’s pigmented and it’s easy to blend. This also doubles as an eyeshadow. I wish the colour would be little less red, though.

I’ve been on a hunt for a cream eyeshadow for an easy everyday eyeshadow look. I bought the Lid Lingerie Eye Tint in “Nude To Me”. This is nice, but I’m not sold on the colour. It has a red undertone and needs to be blended out somewhat carefully so it doesn’t look weird.

I’m always wearing a lip liner, due to the fact that I don’t really have lip lines on my own. You wouldn’t be able to tell that I have an upper lip if I didn’t. I’m often running out of nude/natural lip liners so I bought the Lip Liners in “Ever”, “Beige” and “Natural”. I’m not sure about Beige as it’s a shimmer one, but I like the other two and I’ve used them a lot already.

I finally bought my first ever Soft Matte Lip Cream! It’s in the shade “London”. It’s described as mid-tone beige, it’s a nice everyday colour and I think it suits me. I’m wearing it in the photos. It’s matte so it’s not the most comfortable thing on the lips. I can wear it with no problems for a few hours and I’m okay with that. I can always take my lipstick off and then re-apply.

This Dewy Finish Setting Spray does not make my skin look dewy, but it works as a setting spray wonderfully so I keep going back to this. I like the fact that this is not a giant bottle, it fits in all of my makeup cases. A setting spray is a must in the summer if you’re wearing face makeup.
