Oops, it’s already winter and here I am sharing my beauty favourites for autumn. Thinking back, this autumn has been a roller coaster for me. I’m hoping this has lead me to a much more calm winter and I’ll find time and energy to put up more blog posts. My highlight for this season has been my new hobby. I started training bujinkan a few months ago and while it has definitely been challenging, it has been so much fun. I’ve met new nice people and I feel like I’ve overcome myself and my fear of trying something new without knowing if I’m going to be good at it. It’s a nice feeling, knowing that you have grown as a human being.

But back to the beauty things. My skin is dry and sensitive so autumn is always challenging time for my skin, but now with hormonal acne it has been a struggle. I think I’m at the point I want medical help with my acne. My spots aren’t big, but the redness is driving me crazy. My skin looks easily cake-y and awful with makeup so it’s hard to find the right makeup products. They need to be both pigmented enough to cover the red spots and suitable for dry skin. Luckily, I’ve found some skincare products to help with my dry skin so applying heavy duty makeup has become easier.

I’ve been interested in Korean beauty brands for awhile, but I haven’t tried many K-Beauty products before. My friend and fellow beauty blogger Myy recommended these two for me. She has dry skin like me and have found these two helpful. And I’m in love as well! Cosrx is a K-beauty brand with a tagline “Beauty in simplicity”. This brand reminds me of The Ordinary. The name comes from the words cosmetic and RX, a word that is common in pharmacy meaning prescription.

Korean skincare routine include steps we don’t usually have here. I don’t mind taking these extra steps if my skin benefits from them. After cleansing and toning and before applying my serum I now use an essence. Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence is a hydrating essence for dry to normal skin types. I can really see the difference in my skin, especially when I’m wearing makeup. Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion with Birch Sap is a lightweight formula with moisturising and calming benefits. It’s key ingredient is Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice (birch sap). This has a fresh scent which I love. I apply this lotion after serum and before face cream. With the help of these two, my skin no longer looks dull and dehydrated.

I ordered my essence and lotion from, but these items are not currently available. Hopefully they will become available again very soon, preferable, before I run out of them…

For a quick refreshment during the day, I keep my Melvita Damask Rose Floral Water* in the fridge. Try keeping a hydrating mist in the fridge, it’s so lovely to have that coolness with moisture. Rose scent is not for everybody, but I don’t mind it. This is a certified organic product.

KC Professional Color Masks are excellent colour masks to keep your hair colour looking fresh. These are very pigmented and easy and fairly quick to use. With my purple hair my shade is Plum, I love this colour. The white packaging however is annoying as it gets dirty very quick. These masks are not the cheapest out there, but I think they are worth it.

Even though I own 101 foundations, I went and bought a new one. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is a cult favourite of many. This is good foundation for dry to normal skin types. It offers a light to medium coverage with a beautiful finish. With the spots and dark circles I’ve, I definitely have to wear concealer with this one, but I think it’s better to have a lighter coverage foundation and only use heavier coverage where needed. Some say it’s not very long-lasting, but I haven’t had a problem with it. Yes, this is an expensive foundation, but I think I’m going to repurchase it. This shade is a good match for me, but I’ve no idea what it is. It doesn’t say it anywhere in the bottle, how annoying. If I remember correctly, mine is in the shade 3.

I’ve a new primer that is actually a moisturiser. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer gives my skin a smooth base for makeup. This moisturiser gets rid of any dry patches and I think it even helps my makeup to last longer. Using moisturiser as my primer I’m not even afraid of using face powders I usually try to avoid. I apply Ultra Facial Moisturizer on to my skin just before putting my makeup on. It leaves a bit sticky feeling and I think that’s what helps my makeup to look nicer and last longer.

Pinky nude lipsticks are the everyday staples. Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in the shade 402 Adrienne is that for me. I can throw this shade on almost not even looking to the mirror. It’s creamy and very comfortable to wear. This lipstick is definitely sheer in texture, but it adds enough colour when you want something subtle and pretty. It goes with whatever makeup look I’m going for.

While I really like the powder highlighter in the same shade, I love this liquid version. As you can see from the bottle! Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Liquid Moonstone is pure gold for my pale skin. I use this as a highlighter on top of my foundation, but also mixed in my foundation to have that extra dewiness when needed. At the moment, Becca is not available in Finland, I bought this while I was in Sweden in August. I wonder if Sephora has any plans to come to Finland any time soon. That would be bad news for my bank account, though…

Okay, now I need to head out, I’m going to the movies to see the Murder on the Orient Express. Although, I don’t think I’m going to like Kenneth Branagh as Hercule Poirot as much as David Suchet is Poirot for me.
